Indian Bridal Fashion Week Rohit Bal

Rohit Bal did two things right at the Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013. First, he made Sonam Kapoor his show stopper. There's no denying that Sonam Kapoor is the ultimate style diva in Bollywood right now. Second, he stuck to the basics of bridal lehengas and kept it real simple with flowy fabrics and traditional cholis and lehengas. No over-the-top embroidery or weird cuts that just dont look good on a bride. Absolutely loved Sonam Kapoor in the traditional Rohit Bal cream and golden lehenga choli with the dupatta neatly draped on one arm and tucked in on the other side.

Loved Rohit Bal's traditional red and golden bridal lehenga cholis. The velvet choli with delicate golden embroidery really steals the show.

I also liked his anarkali lehengas in black, red, golden and white. The mughal embroidery on the top instead of on the lehenga gives it a different look altogether.

These lovely cocktail sarees are a definite attention grabber because of the beautiful neckline on the blouses. The lace fabric beautifully contours the body shape giving it that sexy yet chic look.

Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013 Tarun Tahiliani

In the Indian Bridal Fashion week 2013, Tarun Tahiliani started off his collection with a very white bridal ensemble. Now I am not a big fan of white for bridal wear. But I did like a few of the anarkali lehengas from Tarun Tahiliani's collection.

The white and black anarkali lehengas have a beautiful wrapped look for the top and nice flowing textures. The grey coloured anarkali lehenga looks very different because of the delicate grey colour. I think these anarkali lehengas by Tarun Tahiliani are really nice for the reception or a  themed cocktail party or sangeet at a pre-wedding function.

For the actual wedding day, I really like the pinkish peach bridal anarkali lehenga by Tarun. There is something about having the additional cover up suit on the lehenga that instantly imparts that royal look to the lehenga. Love the prints at the bottom of the lehenga.

This ghagra choli looks straight out of a scene from Jodha Akbar. Nevertheless, love the colours and the embroidery. The dupatta could have been draped slightly differently to make it look less overpowering on the dress.

I absolutely loved this ghagra choli by Tarun Tahiliani. It looks very easy and comfortable to wear and showcases the beatiful intricate embroidery on the ghagra. The dupatta worn on the head gives it the instant bridal look and does not hide the exquisite embroidery on the ghagra. I like the style of the choli as well. Something different!

Shruti Haasan Saree Pics

Among the south indian actresses, Shruti Haasan beats everyone hands down. I love her style when it comes to dressing traditionally. Not only is her western style really chic like you can see here in the Filmfare red carpet event, but her traditional style is also very modern chic. Shruti Haasan's sarees are not every over the top glitzy, yet elegantly beautiful with delicate embroidery and jewellery that make them very wearable. Here are a few of my favourite pics of Shruti Haasan's sarees.

Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013 - Rina Dhaka and Jyotsna Tiwari

So the Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013 has begun with much flair. Here are my favourite picks from the bridal fashion shows so far. More posts to follow as the Indian bridal fashion week continues

I loved Sophie Choudhary's bridal look from Rina Dhaka. The other Reena Dhaka bridal outfits were not as great and looked clunky.

From Jyotsna Tiwari's collection, I loved these lehenga cholis from Jyotsna Tiwari. These would be perfect for wearing to someone else's wedding or even your own sangeet function given the brightly coloured choli and elegantly fitting and flowing lehenga/ghagra.

I also liked this sheer Lehenga choli from Jyotsna Tiwari with the velvet trim at the end. But I must say this was nothing new and i have seen similar ones with Seasons India collections in the past year. Nevertheless, it looks great so no harm done.

A good surprise from Jyotsna Tiwari was this greek styled saree that could be worn at a cocktail function or reception. This reminded me of a similar dress that actress Rekha from yesteryear wore in a song. But this greek styled saree is refreshingly different and love the royal blue color. Kudos Jyotsna!
