So we all know the standard indian bridal colour is red. In this month's post we present beautiful red lehengas, red chainya cholis and red bridal sarees. Each week we pick a different colour and present beautiful bridal dresses in that colour. Unveiling the glorious culture and traditions of south India, the Tamil Bride exemplifies earthy tones with a tint of gold highlighting her cheeks. Shades of brown decorated her lips, with gorgeous flowers in her hair completing the look. Gold is of prime importance in Tamilian weddings. The bride is adorned with gold ornaments from head to toe. The head ornaments include the maang tikka as well as the two side tikkas. Necklaces are usually a combination of a choker necklace with a variety of other necklaces of varying lengths all the way upto the belly. Pure silk and Kanjivaram sarees are most commonly worn. Real Marathi brides, Marathi wedding, Marathi bridal sarees

Planning a Marathi wedding? If you are a Marathi bride or mother of the bride :) and looking for what to wear for the wedding - saree, jewellery etc. you have reached the right place. Here are some pointers of what actual Marathi brides wore on their weddings.
Typically, Marathi brides wear one of the following colors for their bridal saree which is usually a paithani saree - yellow, mango yellow, purple, and green. Some of our Marathi brides here have chosen to be different and wore a blue or red coloured paithani as well. The jewellery is essentially one choker style gold necklace - also called as "Thushi"  in Marathi. with a few other gold necklaces of varied lengths for the heavy decked up look. The next essential thing is the traditional Marathi jhumka earrings and the nath  or nose-ring which is more like a mango shaped jewellery rather than a ring. Also the bajuband  or armlet is a must for any traditional Marathi bride. The bajuband usually has a red coloured semi-precious stone in the middle. The green and gold bangles or toda bangles are also a traditional favourite. Hairstyle is typically a bun. Most brides wear the chandrabindu or the moon shaped bindi. That completes the traditional maharashtrian bride's attire.

Alia bhatt bringing sexy back with gorgeous modern traditional twist lehenga cholis, alia bhat lehenga choli

Alia bhatt the newest kid on the Bollywood block is bringing sexy back with her modern traditional twist lehenga cholis. For filmfare awards, she wore this gorgeous black Manish Malhotra lehenga choli in pink and black. Pink and black is like my favourite combination for a traditional dress and this lehenga choli totally rocked it. The bow-tie in the back and the bold choice of colors was a cutesie western touch to a more traditional lehenga. Alia Bhatt's lehenga choli is perfect for a sangeet function or reception.
For Khwaab Bridal Couture 2013, Alia Bhatt was the show stopper for Kavita and Meenu and she dazzled in the golden and black lehenga choli shown in the third photo below. This golden and black lehenga is also perfect for a wedding reception event.
I also loved Alia Bhatt's more mature look in the Sabyasachi rani pink saree below.
And ofcourse, who can forget Alia Bhatt's famous bright pink and silver sequined Radha lehenga from her movie Student of the Year.

Parineeti Chopra is the hottest face in Bollywood right now. She recently was the show stopper for Manish Malhotra's bridal wear fashion show. I absolutely loved Parineeti Chopra's red velvet lehenga. The accessories were a bit much on the head but the lehenga was gorgeous. She also showcased the coral lehenga collection in Manish Malhotra's angeli foundation fashion show. I also loved her look in the navy blue with coral pink anarkali by Manish Malhotra. Parineeti Chopra also chose to wear a black Manish Malhotra lehenga for an award function and she looked stunning.

























 

Jhumkas, Kundan Jhumkas the hottest trend in bollywood

Jhumkas have taken over Bollywood apparently! Everyone is sporting big and heavy looking jhumkas - Kashmiri jhumkas, kundan jhumkas, bali jhumkas. Kashmiri jhumkas are the ones that go around the ear. Bali jhumkas are usually round. Kundan jhumkas are my favourite, they look so pretty with the white kundan diamonds with white pearls. Vidya balan was recently spotted wearing heavy gold jhumkas. So was Anushka Sharma. Jhumkas are sort of a retro trend, but hey as we all know - history repeats itself! The trend is to wear jhumkas with everything - saree, salwar kameez, even Tshirts! So bring out those heavy jhumkas and strut them off! Here are some beautiful jhumkas for you to admire.
