Diva'ni Yash Raj's new bridal wear designer label

Yash Raj's Diva'ni collection was launched yesterday with the bollywood divas Katrina Kaif, Madhuri Dixit, Preity Zinta, Anushka Sharma, Sridevi walking the ramp. Here are a few of my favourite picks from the Diva'ni collection.

Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013 Tarun Tahiliani

In the Indian Bridal Fashion week 2013, Tarun Tahiliani started off his collection with a very white bridal ensemble. Now I am not a big fan of white for bridal wear. But I did like a few of the anarkali lehengas from Tarun Tahiliani's collection.

The white and black anarkali lehengas have a beautiful wrapped look for the top and nice flowing textures. The grey coloured anarkali lehenga looks very different because of the delicate grey colour. I think these anarkali lehengas by Tarun Tahiliani are really nice for the reception or a  themed cocktail party or sangeet at a pre-wedding function.









For the actual wedding day, I really like the pinkish peach bridal anarkali lehenga by Tarun. There is something about having the additional cover up suit on the lehenga that instantly imparts that royal look to the lehenga. Love the prints at the bottom of the lehenga.



This ghagra choli looks straight out of a scene from Jodha Akbar. Nevertheless, love the colours and the embroidery. The dupatta could have been draped slightly differently to make it look less overpowering on the dress.


I absolutely loved this ghagra choli by Tarun Tahiliani. It looks very easy and comfortable to wear and showcases the beatiful intricate embroidery on the ghagra. The dupatta worn on the head gives it the instant bridal look and does not hide the exquisite embroidery on the ghagra. I like the style of the choli as well. Something different!

Bridal chaniya choli, Bridal lehengas

Bridal chaniya cholis are a gorgeous traditional attire for a beautiful bride. Chaniya cholis are back in season with dark peacock blues, pink and purple shades. Chaniya cholis are very similar to lehengas and have a little more flair than lehengas. Chaniya cholis are perfect for Navrati, Sangeet, or Wedding because of their exquisite embroidery and style. Here are a few of my favourite bridal chaniya cholis or lehengas.

Kareena Kapoor Bridal Look and Kundan jewellery

Kareena Kapoor looks fabulous in her golden bridal lehenga with heavy kundan jewellery. Her red and black cocktail saree matched with a heavy kundan choker necklace and kundan maang tikka also looks stunning. I think she pairs kundan jewellery with both western and traditional outfits very well. Her green evening dress with a simple kundan necklace was so exquisitely beautiful. So were her kundan earrings matched with a nude coloured salwar kameez. 

Bridal Lehengas and Wedding Lehengas

Are you debating about what to wear for your wedding day, saree, lehenga, ghagra choli, sharara? I think a saree is a very common wedding outfit. I would recommend wearing a lehenga for several reasons. Firstly, I think a Bridal Lehenga with heavy embroidery when combined with matching jewellery gives the right heavy look that differentiates you from your wedding guests. Your guests are mostly going to wear a saree or salwar kameez. Secondly, you can always wear it again on other special occasions like Diwali or EId or another friend's wedding combined with simple or delicate jewellery, so you don't look over-dressed, but still have the ethnic and special outfit.  I have seen so many beautiful bridal lehengas that I absolutely loved and wish I could wear each one of them. So here are a few of my favourite bridal lehengas. And even if you chose not to wear a lehenga for your wedding day, you can always wear one for the sangeet or engagement ceremony.
