Marathi wedding, bridal saree and jewellery

Typical Maharashtrian bridal saree colours are yellow, green and purple. These sarees are usually called Paithanis and they have a golden border. The hairstyle is usually a bun adorned with mogra flowers ("gajara"). Nose ring or "Nath" is worn. The bindi is typical and shaped like a crescent moon with a dot below it. Bangles are always green in colour with interspersed gold bangles in between or on the sides. Marathi style of wearing a saree is called "Kashta" or "Navari" saree and is usually when the saree is tucked from in between the legs.

Neha, thank you for your comment. Are you looking to buy the saree online? If you are looking to purchase in a shop, which city are you looking in?

In Mumbai, you can purchase the "Paithani" or "Kanjivaram" sarees from Dadar market from stores like Paaneri, Laajaree or Dadar Emporium

Women who wear gold jewellery consider it to be an integral part of their appearance, and consider it as a necessary item rather than just an accessory.
These are really very amazing jewellery....

Can someone tell me where can I buy a clip on Nath? Does anyone know any online store where I can order it from?

Hi Kanchan,
If you live in Mumbai, you can go to Dadar and most of the local artificial or imitation jewellery shops have clip on naths. They are available in various sizes as well. You can also buy online at ebay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=marathi+nath&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xnath&_nkw=nath&_sacat=0 Hope this helps!
