Marathi wedding, bridal saree and jewellery

Typical Maharashtrian bridal saree colours are yellow, green and purple. These sarees are usually called Paithanis and they have a golden border. The hairstyle is usually a bun adorned with mogra flowers ("gajara"). Nose ring or "Nath" is worn. The bindi is typical and shaped like a crescent moon with a dot below it. Bangles are always green in colour with interspersed gold bangles in between or on the sides. Marathi style of wearing a saree is called "Kashta" or "Navari" saree and is usually when the saree is tucked from in between the legs.

Auspicious colour of bridal saree

Red or maroon is the auspicious colour for Marwadi and Punjabi weddings.

In Maharashtrian weddings, it's Green or Yellow (the saree is usually Paithani - which means it has a heavy golden Jari border).

In Gujarati weddings, the bride usually wears a white sari with red bandhini border called Panetar.
